It has often been touted by Neo-Confederates that their desire to maintain the establishment and use such symbols of racism and white supremacy such as The Confederate Battle Flag (The Stars and Bars) and the many numerous Confederate Monuments that exist in practically every single major city (at the very least) in every former confederate state, is motivated by a love and reverence for history and an appreciation of their ancestral background encapsulated under the slogan of “Heritage NOT Hate ” are clearly either woefully uneducated or are shameless liars.

These assertions are obviously a blatant act of historical revisionism that anyone with even the modicum degree of intelligence can not take seriously for even a millisecond. Those who know better will take note of the infamous “Cornerstone Speech” (aka, “The Cornestone Address”) which was an oration delivered by Confederate Vice-President Alexander H. Stephens at the Athenaem in Savannah, Georgia, on March 21, 1861. In Stephens’ speech he stated clearly that the disagreement over the enslavement of African Americans were the “immediate cause” of secession from the United States of America and that the confederate constitution had resolved all hitherto existing issues by stating:

“The new Constitution has put at rest forever all the agitating questions relating to our peculiar institutions—African slavery as it exists among us—the proper status of the negro in our form of civilization. This was the immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution. Jefferson, in his forecast, had anticipated this, as the ‘rock upon which the old Union would split.’ He was right. What was conjecture with him, is now a realized fact. But whether he fully comprehended the great truth upon which that rock stood and stands, may be doubted. The prevailing ideas entertained by him and most of the leading statesmen at the time of the formation of the old Constitution were, that the enslavement of the African was in violation of the laws of nature; that it was wrong in principle, socially, morally and politically. It was an evil they knew not well how to deal with; but the general opinion of the men of that day was, that, somehow or other, in the order of Providence, the institution would be evanescent and pass away. […] Those ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong. They rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. It was a sandy foundation, and the idea of a Government built upon it—when the ‘storm came and the wind blew, it fell.’ ” 

Stephens declared that his newly formed Confederate States of America was explicitly founded upon the bedrock of racism towards African Americans, White Supremacy, and that the maintenance of the institution of slavery was not only it’s primary aim, but that it was entirely justified “scientific” and “moral” point of view:

“Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite ideas; its foundations are laid, its cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth. This truth has been slow in the process of its development, like all other truths in the various departments of science.”

Stephens further declares that the Confederate Governments’ belief in human inequality, and that to maintain the subordination of certain peoples under the dominance of others was to adhere to the so-called “laws of nature”:

“May we not therefore look with confidence to the ultimate universal acknowledgement of the truths upon which our system rests? It is the first government ever instituted upon the principles in strict conformity to nature, and the ordination of Providence, in furnishing the materials of human society. Many governments have been founded upon the principle of the subordination and serfdom of certain classes of the same race; such were and are in violation of the laws of nature. Our system commits no such violation of nature’s laws.”

We here at Murfreesboro Anti-Fascist Action therefore declare that any individual, or organization that openly venerates (pays homage or reverence) to the memory and history of The Confederate States of America (C.S.A.) is a racist and a white supremacist, that has no place in descent society.

We wish to further state that anyone who has the audacity to assert that The Civil War was fought over “States Rights” instead of slavery; and/or that slavery wasn’t widespread throughout the south, that slave holders treated their slaves well, or that slavery was “good for blacks” is perpetuating a pernicious lie as vulgar as denying the existence of the Jewish Holocaust under the Nazi Regime.

One look at any given member’s account tells you precisely where these individuals stand poltically. Take for instance the account of James Russell Forbes, Jr, the 1st Lieutenant Commander of Camp #33. On his account, as with other members, we see his constant and unceasing reverance for the memory of Confederate Army general Nathan Bedford Forest who was responsible for the Fort Pillow Massacre where roughly 2/3 of the African American soldiers who surrendered were slaughtered as opposed to roughly 1/3 of their white counterparts. He was equally notorious for being elected the Ku Klux Klan’s first Grand Wizard from 1867 to1869. We can see Forbes promoting a fundraiser for the upkeep of General Forest’s boyhood home which occurred on June the 15th 2019, as well as his support  for the Governor of Tennessee’s resent  proclamation to make the 13th of July the official “Nathan Bedford Forrest Day ” in that same year.Take a look:

A man whose administration has had direct and indirect connections to white supremacists ans Neo-Nazis. Christopher Joseph Marascalco Cummins, MD is a 44 year old male who is currently residing and practicing medicine at the city of Jackson, TN. He is also a Major in the United States Army.

By all accounts he would have everyone believe that he is an upstanding member of society: a doctor, soldier, Christian, and single father of four. However, it doesn’t take one too long to ascertain that he is an individual who has a history tied to white supremacy and the Neo-Confederate movement.

One look at his very public Facebook account and one can find that he has interest, and probable affiliation or membership to a wide array of organizations:

Above, and in order of appearance: CSA 2: The New Confederate States of America, Southern Heritage News and Views, Southern National Congress, Memphis Brigade Son’s of Confederate Veterans, Southern Historical Society, Order of the Confederate Rose: Mary Ann Forest Chapter, Mississippi Division Son’s of Confederate Veterans, Mississippi Society Military Order of the Stars and Bars, and Son’s of Confederate Veterans.

Each and every one of these organizations are venerating the memory of those who fought to defend a government that has long since been defunct and who’s legitimacy was never internationally recognized. That well-known government is forever remembered in the annals of United States history as the Confederate States of America (C.S.A.). This is the same government fought a long and bloody civil war from 1861 to 1865 against the United States in an attempt to uphold its so-called „right“ to maintain the cruel, abusive, and blatantly racist institution of Slavery throughout the southern United States.

After its dissolution, ex-members of the C.S.A. flooded into the Democratic Party during the Reconstruction Period. These „Dixiecrats“ began to implement a series of laws at the local level throughout the south became known as the infamous „Jim Crow Laws“ that ushered in the widely used practice of segregation between blacks and whites under the oxymoronic slogan of „Separate, but Equal.“

During the same time, a racist white supremacist hate group began its bloody rise throughout the south. This organization, which still exists today, is known around the world as the Ku Klux Klan (K.K.K., or simply „The Klan“). This organization and others closely affiliated with it such as The Black Legion (formerly The Black Guards) established a reign of terror against its various enemies with the aim of „purifying“ American Society. This organization was formed primarily with the aim of harassing, assaulting, and murdering African-Americans.

Given the south’s history,  Doctor Cummins‘ support for such organizations and their use of the universally recognized symbol of hate: the Confederate Battle Flag („The Stars and Bars“) , and his flagrant appreciation for such illustrious generals of the Confederacy that defended the racist institution of slavery such as Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and P.G.T. Beauregard (even celebrating their birthdays) goes only to prove that Dr. Cummins has allied himself with the heritage of hate that they represent. See Below:

What is worse however, is his ties to an organization that has been classified by the Southern Poverty Law Center (S.P.L.C.) as a hate group. This racist White Supremacist Neo-Confederate hate group is known as none other than the League of the South (LoS). This organization according to SPLC „denounces the federal government and Northern and Coastal states as part of a materialist and anti-religious society they call The Empire,“ and „has increasingly embraced violence, criticized perceived Jewish power and warned black people that they would be defeated in a future race war.“(1) It’s membership consists not only racist Neo-Confederate White Supremacists, but Neo-Nazis as well. In fact, in 2017 The League of the South joined the Nationalist Front, a loose coalition of Neo-Nazi and pan far-right organizations that was headed by then National Socialist Movement leader Jeff Schoep.

In the Streets the League has, in addition to its secessionist billboard campaign and protesting the removal of Confederate monuments throughout the South, has been active at such noted rallies in Pikeville, KY; Shelbyville, TN; and the now-infamous „Unite the Right“ rally in Charlottesville, VA that left one 32 year-old Heather Hayer slain, and 19 others seriously injured.

What is more damning, and only adds insult to injury is his disgusting, manipulative, sexist, and misogynistic Orthodox Catholic pro-life anti-choice propaganda that he regularly disseminates into the public realm all the while supporting a religious institution that historically has committed many numerous atrocities, including the one it commits regularly-the rape and molestation of young children. The cognitive dissonance with respect to allegedly defending the right of unborn children to live while simultaneously supporting an institution that rapes and abuses them is quite simply shocking. What’s even more damning is that not only has he repeatedly attempted to defend the the flag of the State of Mississippi from being changed because it includes the Confederate Battle Flag, and defending Ole Miss „Colonel Reb“being replaced as the official mascot of the University of Mississippi due to its racist connections/connotations, is that he is actively indoctrinating his own children into heritage of hate. The reader should note that the headstones seen in the graveyard below are inscribed with the acronym „CSA“, which stands for Confederate States of America. See below:

However, what puts the icing on the proverbial cake is his apparent ties to the white supremacist organization-Identity Evropa. Identity Evropa is a part of what is referred to today as the „Alt-Right“, which is a clean-cut, scrubbed down version of Neo-Nazism that uses none of the stereotypical Nazi symbolism, racial slurs, buzzwords, and modes of fashion that Neo-Nazis have used in the past. It is a cultural Trojan-horse that attempts to move The Overton Window further to right to the side of tyranny. 

Created by founder and former leader Nathan Domingo, Identity Evropa directly takes its inspiration from its European fore-runner and counterpart-Generation Identity, and has been classified by the Southern Poverty Law Center (S.P.L.C.) as a hate group. Known for its distinct logo, flyering campaigns, banner drops, and Flash-Mobs Identity Evropa „helped to plan the deadly 2017 Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, but have since attempted to publicly distance themselves from events that could both tarnish their image and land them in legal trouble. As a result, they’ve made multiple leadership changes, doubled down on their identitarian label, and become pickier when it comes to the group’s membership and public appearances.“(2)

With the resent release of Discord’s „Nice Respectable People“ chat log, we have been able to Identify Dr. Cummins-and directly connect him to Identity Evropa.

First we know that he lives and works in Jackson, TN-which is the same city he is flyering in for Identity Evropa. We also know that he was born in Grenada, MS and at one time lived in Oxford, MS. We also know that he is „giuseppe398“, because it is the same username as his yahoo email address. See below:

Dr. Cummins hypocrisy knows no bounds as he gives his tacit support President Donald Trumps racist and xenophobic apartheid wall that he plans to build along the southern border of the United States, yet at the same time expresses his pride in being Italian, all the while forgetting that Italians immigrants fleeing a life of poverty (just like Mexican, and Latina American people are doing today) from the last turn of the century were referred to as „guineas“, „goombas“, „dagos“ and „WOPS“, which stands „With Out Papers“-meaning: an illegal immigrant. He also ignores the fact, as he allies himself to the heritage of hate that can be found today and historically throughout the south and the United States at large, that on multiple occasions Italian Immigrants-were lynched. He also seems to forget that Catholics were once the enemy of the Ku Klux Klan, and were frequently derided, harassed, and attacked.
